It’s the 7th January already – I remember when it was the 7th January 2010 – and it only seems like a few weeks ago. Where does the time go. This is our first week back at Leishman Associates are already we are into the full swing of things.

The town of Hobart is buzzing with the impending opening of MONA. Leishman Associates are handling all the accommodation requirements for incoming guests, artists and performers – so its very exciting. So therefore our year of events begins on 21 January – and goes right through until December. 2011 is going to be another great year.

Everyone is well rested and looking forward to working with our clients.

Below is a photograph of our home grown celebrity, Jack Lark, and some of the Leishman girls.

Last week at LA it was our Christmas party and carol singing, and this week we say farewell to Cyn, our financial coordinator, at a Mad Hatters Tea Party, complete with funny hats and far too much wonderful food. Cyn is keeper of all things important as she leaves Tassie and heads back to family and friends in Adelaide and we will miss her greatly.

Cyn, thank you for five years of amazing contribution. When you get settled maybe we can open the Adelaide office!

A CHRISTMAS CAROL and a few celebrations

The Leishman Team at 2010 Christmas Party

Friday 10th December was the annual Leishman Associates Christmas Party. Each year, we take half a day off and go to a wonderful restaurant to enjoy ourselves, and talk about the year
that we’ve had. This year’s venue was the Henry Jones Art Hotel on Hobart’s Waterfront. We had 17 guests this year, 15 Leishman team members, Joe (our accountant) and Roz (our themer).

As part of the Leishman tradition, started in 2000 by original staff member Joyce, when we hand over the gift to our receiver, we have to sing a Christmas Carol. In the early days we would
sing traditional carols, however as the years went by, some of the talented staff at LA began to customise their carols and incorporate our day to day lives at LA, and what goes on throughout
the year.  As a result, this annual event has become a torture as they think about performing in front of their work colleagues and for others – a great celebration and opportunity to show off
their creative talents by penning their own song.

This year, I enlisted the help of our very good friend, speaker, voice over artist, Robyn Moore. Robyn has known us for many years; and I gave her all the input and she put the song together.
So the tune of 12 days of Christmas this is my offering.

On the first day of Christmas my staff gave to me
A year that was Extraordinary!

On the second day of Christmas Natasha blessed is she
With one point four million,
From sponsors and exhibition fees.

On the third day of Christmas Renee and Victoria did see
Seven hundred and fifty people
330,000 in sponsorship
From Managers in Tertiary.

On the fourth day of Christmas, Naomi caused a spree
With $56 thousand she done it,
She could have flown to TUMMIT,
With Nicole who hates to slum it,
So a Cove became her Sanctuary!

On the fith day of Christmas my staff reminded me..
Of Friday night drinks
Lots of flights and travel
Speakers by the dozen
Friday morning Coffee
And Renee’s famous birthday cakes!

On the Sixth day of Christmas Choice Roadshow came to be
With Brigitte and Nicole
And Friday night drinks

3 weeks with Naomi,
Now she is my roomie
She wished I was George Cloonie
And now Lonny’s where she really wants to BE!

On the Seventh day of Christmas we bought a dictionary
It’s stuck on letter A…
A clients came our way
But there’s Friday night drinks
How on earth do we move to letter B?

On the Eighth day of Christmas we count our family …
There’s Brig, Renee and Nicole,
Naomi, Nat and Helene
And Friday night drinks!
Leanne, Michelle and Jen
Jenna, Tiara and Victoria,
Farewell Cynthia and that leaves ME!

On the Ninth day of Christmas we love our industry …
4700 hundred delegates
6000 plus room nights
From Engineers to Women’s Health
And Friday night drinks
Big budget cuts
No ifs or buts
Allergies to nuts
23 Conferences …its all Extraordinary!

So that is our year that was…extraordinary. We are looking forward to 2011, already busy and in progress.

In the next few days I will publish more of our custom-songs. Merry Christmas
